NFL Playoff prediction(s)

Week 1

49ers romp the Seahawks. Best backup QB in the biz since Tom Matte! Bills by 8+ over the Dolphins nad Bengals by 8+ over the Ravens, because back up QBs get romped in the playoffs <LOL.> Vikings by a last second field goal over the Giants. Chargers too close to call. Brady has NEVER lost to the Cowboys. Cowboys have had trouble in big games. And on the road. Blimp game. Don’t wanna call this one either. So I won’t

Week 2

WHOEVER goes to KC looses. Same for whoever goes to Philly but the ‘Boys will make it close. Brady will bomb. Bills will beat the Bengals in an emotional game. Very close. 49ers train keeps on rolling, this time over the Vikings in prime time.

Week 3

Chiefs/Bills too close to call two weeks out. Mahomes magic or Hustle for Hamlin? Niners will crack the Eagles defense to take THEIR magical season to the Super Bowl, TODAY I’d take the Niners over the Bills but I’ll be updating after each round so we’ll see.

EDIT AFTER FIRST ROUND

Niners? Check. Bills? Yes, but no. Bengals? Yes but no. No last second magic for the Vikings. Chargers/Jags WAS too close to call. And NOW Brady has lost to the Cowboys. Is he done now?

Chiefs – 8+. Chiefs win but I can actually see the Jags covering.

Eagles -7+. Eagles win but I can actually see the Gints covering.

Bills -5. Bills over the Bengals. Bengals to cover.

Niners -3+. Niners to win AND cover.

Then Bills over Chiefs by <3, Niners over Eagles by roughly 3. Niners/Bills currently too close to call.

EDIT FOR CONFERENCE TITLE GAMES

Chiefs won, Jags covered. 2-0. Eagles won AND covered 1-1, 3-1. Bengals won and covered. 1-1. 4-2. Niners won AND covered. 2-0. 6-2. A pretty good weekend.

Niners are getting 2+. I’ll take the point AND outright. I can smell what the Brock is COOKIN’! Chiefs are giving the Bengals 1. Bengals have been KILLING me this post season but I’ll take the Chiefs and lay the points.

EDIT FOR THE BIG ONE

One blown call in the first two minutes cost me the NFC game. 0-2. But the Bengals have FINALLY make me a winner. 2-0 for a split this week.

I’ll take the Chiefs to win outright, so I’ll of course also take the points, and the under. 25-24 thanks to a two point conversion.

Final review:

Chiefs got it done. Felt pretty good about the final score since I took the Chiefs by 1. Blew the over but thought it would be close. Congrats to all connections. Hope you enjoyed the season.

Just enough to merit a side-hustle post

Still negotiating my sub arrangement with the school. Since their raise went into effect they’ve added a handful of regulars to the roster, which is good. For the school. But it means I’m not being used as much/often or well. I’ve proposed that I be allowed to pick up classes posted 24 hours in advance, thus putting me IN a classroom more often rather than covering Spec ed, study hall, coaches who need to leave early, vape patrol and cafeteria duty. Money’s the same, I would note. But it’s more about attitude. Figure next year I’ll relinquish the “building sub” title and go back to grabbing what I want and in the off chance I don’t have a gig I can STILL come in and they’ll plug me in to whatever they have. Time will tell.

Most of you know I’m a big fan of flickchart.com. And that October and November bring in quite a few new rankings. And on New Years Day I hit 9,000! Gone in the Night, Nanny and Glass Onion were likely the biggie. And there are others watched but not yet rated. By their reckoning I’ve watched almost 645 days worth of movies. I’d like to see the site filter out cartoons. Not animated features but rather all of those Warner Brothers saturday morning Bugs and Daffy things. Love them. Watch them. But rating them feels like cheating.

I plan on continuing my October and December plans. Maybe add November? And there’s the re-watching of annual stuff. And one of my top twelve will be watched each month.

Christmas final

NASTY weather here in central Ohio. Huge bonuses being paid to drivers last night but I chose not to brave the elements. Stayed in with Kim, ate chili and watched movies. Will hit the final two tomorrow but wanna wright this up tonight.

We start the final run with the Griswold’s. I give it an 8.8. Makes the list because everybody else loves i and we tend to latch onto the movies of our childhood.

Then back to MY childhood. 1966 Grinch. We drop it a bit every season but it’s spot on the list should stay safe. It’s a solid 9.2 and should last another decade.

My second favorite Christmas Carol (Scrooged) is in a cluster of four movies: the 9.5’s. the 2019 version with Guy Pierce, Scrooged, Christmas in Connecticut and the Bishop’s Wife. Are 414 through 417 on my list of nearly 9,000!

Miracle on 34th Street. Because. Same for It’s a Wonderful Life. Maureen O’Hara is beautiful. Natalie Wood is adorable. The bit players are awesome. Rocks a 9.2. And Donna Reed keeps the 9.5 for Jimmy Stewart.

We’ll finish up tonight/tomorrow with A Christmas Story (dropping to 9.1) and Charlie Brown (9.6).

Hope you and yours have a happy.

Christmas week 3

Now we get serious. A Christmas Carol 1938. The entire Lockhart family. N stuff.. Dropped it out of the top 1000. Still 8.8/10!

The 2019 version. VERY different, But I LIKE it! 9.5

A bit of questioning from others – NEXT year we’re gonna add the sill stuff – Die Hard, etc. Just because

Then there’s the Muppet version! 9.5

The Bishop’s Wife. Because it’s good. It just IS. ALSO 9.5

One of those non-Christmas Christmas movies? Love Actually. Bumped up from a 9.1 to a ….9.5!

and finally … Black Christmas, 1974. Same director as Porkys ….. AND A Christmas Story. 8.8 but likely dropping
